Firme Voices Poetry was born from the need for spaces for Chicanos and Hispanics to express themselves freely in a place where they could talk about their culture and use our language. We started in May 2023, doing the first Open Mic event at Mujeres Brew House, a Chicana-owned establishment in Barrio Logan. Later, we did more poetry events in Chicano Park, Centro Cultural De La Raza, Skyline Hills Library Twiggs Cafe, and More.
